RedRaider Kennel is a small kennel located in West Texas, the heart of wild quail country. We breed and raise English Pointer bird dogs primarily from the Elhew family. Our goal is to breed rugged West Texas gun dogs. Our gun dogs are genetically sound, intelligent, well socialized and easily trained. All of our dogs are backed by a signed guarantee at the time of sale.

Thoughts on Breeding

We at RedRaider Kennel are not breaking new ground with our breeding program. We are not doing anything different than a number of reputable breeders across the country. Many of whom we consider our friends. Most of them have been a tremendous help to us over the years.

Even though we are a small kennel and only have a few litters per year, we take our responsibility as a breeder very serious. We have a responsibility to the Pointer breed to only breed those animals that meet a strict conformation and performance standard.

The only way to know if you are producing a quality product is to try it and test it yourself. From each litter we select a pup to keep and develop ourselves. These pups are tested and developed on wild birds in West Texas. We believe that in order to truly understand a breeding program, certain individuals from each litter must be kept and developed and possibly introduced back into the breeding program.

We breed mainly within the Elhew family using our own stud dogs and top Elhew stud dogs across the country. We also understand the need for Outcrossing. We like the Elhew family outcrossed to the Dunn’s Fearless Bud and Big Delivery/Slate Creek Doc families.
